It was amazing. I thought the Jazz blew it a few times but Korver hit that crazy shot and I kept watching to see Lebron do something cool. When they inbounded that last play and Korver didn't have a good look I thought "that's it we blew the play" then they threw it Gaines for the win. I woke my kids up celebrating.

Matt, It's also funny that you typed "My name is Matt" before Sean called you by your last name... are you psychic? or just issuing a preemptive strike?

i understand that they need to keep the short term free for potential trades, and try to keep from going further into the luxury tax, but i really like gaines. he seems to have more upside than price, and could be the backup of the future few years, possibly develop into real talent and be a trade asset down the road.

I figure the Jazz should package him up for another $$$ saving trade, if possible. Otherwise, one more year may be what he needs. Keep in mind, the guy is young, he's 22 years old. Age wise he's a rookie or 2nd year player. He just may blow up this or next season. Although, by the looks of things, he's not. |
What are we paying CJ anyway? Like 5-6 mil a year? I don't think CJ is going to be MVP some day but I think he's worth that. |
$3.7 million a year with one guaranteed year remaining and an additional year that is a team option with no increases. He's not overpaid, he's been paid (relative) peanuts the whole time he's been here. He could be the worst player in the NBA and still not really be a problem with that contract. Memo's deal is much, much more damaging.

This is more a thread for complaining about the Jazz.
They're playing pretty damn well right now, gotta give them all due respek. They've pushed themselves all the way up to...8th in the west. Hallelujia.

sloan said after the game that we can sweep the spurs, but we are still in 9th(we are in 8th now, but the point is valid.) but when the team is not as awesome as we want, you have to celebrate stuff like this. especially against a team we could end up meeting in the playoffs. honestly, i think that there are two teams we couldn't win a 7 game series with right now(in the west), and that is the lakers and the nuggets.

his rankings also have us as third overall.
it isn't really hollinger himself, it is his rankings machine. he doesn't actually do anything but create the formula that spits these results out. he's never had them as favorites, but he does seem to like the jazz as a dark horse/x factor.
but if you look at the remaining jazz schedule, they do have an easier second half of the season. but knowing the jazz, rather than take advantage of it, they'll probably play down. but maybe something has clicked the last week or two, and this powerhouse team can keep playing as such.

yeah, I figured it was his crazy stats rankings computer thing that always ranked us high for some reason. which begs the questio,n, is his computer system thingy flawed or do the jazz really play THAT below potential?

I heard this trade rumor is actually from when we had Maynor. The Jazz were thinking about moving either Maynor or Brewer to Memphis or Oklahoma with Harp's contract and we were able to swing the deal with Maynor. I don't think they are looking to trade Brewer right now. He only makes 2+ million or so. That's not going to kill us.

Look for me in the row behind the announcers. I'll have a purple KJ shirt on and Josh will have a Steve Nash jersey.
Predictions: Goran the Dragon is going to slay your bench guards. Stevie is going to lick his fingers and drain running one-footed 3's. Amar'e will alternately leave Okur open for 3's and Boozer for dunks. Grant Hill is going to fall down on a fast break layup. JRich will miss a 360 ally-oop. Channing Frye will look like Obama and get dunked on. Robin Lopez will tuck his fro behind his ears, pull up his knee-high socks and foul someone. DWill will roam through our defense like a stunt driver navigating orange safety cones. Suns by 2.
