I haven't been yet it has been crazy with my family but I'd like to get up soon when there is enough snow. Thanksgiving usually has enough but oh well.

I go to Solitude usually. Good times.

Post pics and vids.

Hopefully this:

can lead to this:

lurk

I snowboarded at Solitude and then skied at Brighton on Sunday. It reminded me of skiing on the east coast. The man made was far superior at Brighton.

don't know him but yeah great stuff. PUMPED

I've talked to Ian on the phone a couple of times. He shoots a lot with his brother Neil I think. They are making some great content. His stuff is really cool. I'm going to self promote my own video again cause I can and I need more views.

I've got a couple of my own hand held self portraits. This season I'm going to attempting to mount the camera to the nose of my snowboard. We'll see how that goes.

Finally some snow. But, not much in the mountains. I've dreamed about skiing twice the last week or so. Weird. Word.

I should be ripping it up at Alta tomorrow. Woot. I need the stress relief.

I used to go back in high school when the season passes were ultra cheap! But Adult pricing now? WTF? Not worth my money at all. Its so damn expensive.

I want to sell my board, boots, etc but not sure where to take them other than Play it again Sports, who will probably give me $5 for them.

Is there enough snow up there to warrant going out in the freezing temps? Is it still dust on dirt?

Tito built us a sweet mobile snow report and we have an iPhone app.

The new snow went a long way to improve groomer conditions, but, I didn't venture off-piste today. It's pretty sparse coverage.

I keep thinking I would like to try skiing or snowboarding again.

I tried it a few years ago, and didn’t care for it much at all.(Snowboarding)
I think it would be a fun way for my family to hang out together though. Get my daughter enrolled in ski lessons. I will take them with her. Hahaha…

Id like to try cross country skiiing. But thats totally gay right?

When local breweries compete, you get awesome beers. When Bud and Coors compete you get 30 Packs.

So who here has kids that ski? I'd like to get my 4 year old some skiis and boots this year. Any leads on good places to buy for cheap? Maybe used gear like play it again sports or something. I don't want to blow hundreds of dollars for stuff she'll outgrow in a year and I don't know if I want to troll around on ebay or ksl right before Christmas.

Thoughts? I'm looking at you Lurk.

after season spring specials are apparently where it is at. but of course too late/early for that. I would try used like play it again. would it be cheaper to do a weekly rental for a week of lessons or are you playing on taking her a bunch this season?

Yeah, I also should have kept a look out for ski swaps but I forgot about it. I don't think I'm looking to rent though. I'd imagine all our kids are likely going to ski so I should probably have some learner pairs around the house.

This season and last season I got Max season rentals from Canyon Sports. Most of the rental shops do it. If your kid out grows boots or needs some bigger skis all you have to do is take them in and exchange them. I think it's around $125 for the season or something like that. Seems silly to invest in gear that they'll just outgrow.

KSL, Ebay, Snowlist.com, etc... are all good places to look for kids gear too. I think a lot of people buy stuff for their kids they use it a couple of times and outgrow it.

You thinking about ski school or teaching yourself. I was just skiing myself with Max last year when he was three. We used a combination of homemade harnesses, skiing between my legs, me just skiing backwards in front of him, and edgie wedgies. He was really good at staying up and would turn toward whatever he happened to be looking at. But he never really seemed to grasp a reason for stopping or anything like that. Before that he'd ride in a backpack with me while I skied around.

This season because Max will be 4 in January, he's going to start Brighton ski school every sunday. I think he'll listen to instructors and other kids more than me and this way the wife and I can go shred for a few hours every sunday. The 6 week Brighton halfday program for 4 year olds is about $250.

My golden rule for teaching young kids how to ski is when he's over it I'm over it. When Max was 3 he'd usually be up for about 3-4 runs and then it was time for hot chocolate. A bag of M and M's in your pocket can also work wonders for improving a kids mood. Have fun!

For those of you as old as me you probably remember Noah Salasnek. If you don't he's one of the people who made snowboarding what it is today.

Powder and Rails is a great series from VBS.TV. Watch the older ones also check out Epicly Later'd for more skate action. The Cardiel episodes are highly recommended.

First day back on the splitboard today. Man the holidays have really taken their toll on my fitness level. Absolutely beautiful up there today. Head up to a higher elevation and enjoy the clean air.

Where did you ride? Find any good snow? We went up White Pine and rode this south west facing shot behind Scotty's. When we got to the top of the ridge over snowbird, it became apparent that touring is now open out the Whitepine gate. Guess we could have ridden the lift. Good exercise at least. Snow got pretty boney toward the bottom.

nah, i went snowshoeing up guardsman and took me all of two scoops with my deploy 3 to hit dirt.

we're going to tour thursday no matter what — even if it just ends up as a hike, just to get out.

Nice dude. Looking pro there. Where?

I started the morning on Milly at Brighton then rode some classic shots at Solitude before drinking pabst and eating hella french fries. No backpack, just the G10. Despite the holiday crowds I felt at peace with the universe. Fourth track down Evergreen Peak. I feel as if a great weight has been lifted.
